ACES Peer Review

Home

Aims and Scope

Only Alabama Cooperative Extension System (ACES) employees are to submit articles and other peer reviewed products to ACES Peer Review.

Peer-reviewed ACES products are directed at the needs of clientele and prepared for lay and/or professional audiences. They should relate research-based information to practical techniques or concepts that clientele can use.

Alabama Cooperative Extension System product outputs that require Peer Review:
• Manuscripts and Technical Numbered Publication
• Scripts for Educational Videos
• Online Course – Scripts and Content
• Curriculum Materials that are published on ACES website
• Mobile apps

One-time or limited-use materials do not require Peer Review, but separate academic or professional review may be appropriate for these items, depending on the intended use of the material:
• “Timely Information” publications. Note: These
publications are time sensitive, breaking news, and so only posted for a short time (1-year). Upon expiration, these
may be deemed worthy of peer review to become an official
publication.
• Web content/Articles posted to the ACES website
• Newsletters
• Meeting handouts
• Short course materials not published on ACES website
• Public relations materials
• Conference proceedings, primary reports of research
results, and other academic research publications

Alabama Cooperative Extension System peer-reviewed documents include the ACES “Peer Reviewed” checkmark graphic which shows that the publication has been reviewed by at least two content experts, including ACES agents and specialists from both institutions.

Alabama Cooperative Extension System peer-reviewed publications are reviewed for content updates every two years or as needed.
